History of the coca leaf
The coca leaf is a very old plant, considered a mystic plant in the Inca era. Its use dates back to 500 B.C. the pre-Inca cultures and Inca era. In the pre-Inca cultures, the coca leaves were used to calm down sharp pains and chronic pain, it also was a support on the daily hard work and physical efforts. Nonetheless, when the Inca Empire increased, its use was forbidden for the citizens and only kept for the elite. The elite had miles of agricultural land with coca leaves growing on it, which was only given to its citizens in times of food shortage as a way of showing caring. Now and then, little bags with coca leaves were also given to their most faithful servants. Despite the fact that the coca leaf use was restricted by citizens, young runners, part of the postal system, used the coca leaf. They consumed it nonstop as the plant reduces fatigue.
